The DISC tool is a personality inventory that helps to better understand how an employee finds his energy, his self-motivation and his responses to external pressures. Based on emotions, the 4-pillar probe methodology, DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Stability (Steady) and Compliance. This test is sometimes used in the recruiting framework to determine the match between a candidate and a recruiter. However, it is more widespread in the world of consulting and coaching, allowing to identify topics related to communication, especially in a managerial context or team.

How is the DISC built?

Concretely, the DISC is a questionnaire composed of twenty-five items. The objective is to determine the profile of people evaluated according to four dimensions: Dominance (D), Influence (I), Stability (S) and Compliance (C). Generally, each individual will highlight one or two major components among the four dimensions.

What is the purpose of DISC?

Like any professional personality inventory, the goal is to get to know each other better, to decipher his behaviors and his way of interacting with others. Indeed, it is important to remember that the most successful people are those who know each other, who know their strengths and weaknesses, so that they can develop strategies to meet the demands of their environment. The DISC is a real support for identifying and working on various behavioral issues belonging to the dimensions of interpersonal communication.

This knowledge is essential for a manager so that he can build a powerful team, better convey his messages, distribute tasks, etc. Many recruiters optimize their recruitment process thanks to this questionnaire, allowing candidates to identify personality traits that best meet the expectations of the profile sought.

The advantages of DISC

On the evaluator side, the reading of the results is simplified with a presentation in the form of a disc containing the four components, to which a color is associated.
